You can think of the Hair control as the master volume control on a huge amplifier stack. It has been described by owners as It sounds more like a cranked 100 watt British stack than an effects pedal. That is because it is interacting with your amplifier. It improves the sound of your equipment. I searched for years to get this sound, built literally dozens of different types of effects pedals myself from schematics, and still could not get quite the sound I was looking for. There were beautiful sounding fuzz boxes, overdrives, distortion pedals, boosters, you name it., but not "quite" what I was after. I had to design it myself using my knowledge of electronics and having played the guitar and bass for more than 35 years.
Owners have this to say:
"Just wanted to shoot you a quick email to tell you that your Fillmore pedal is the pedal that I've been looking for years.
I've had one spot on my pedalboard, that I just couldn't find the right pedal for. I can't tell you the number of pedals that have filled this spot. Lovepedal, Xotic, Fulltone, and many others.
Your Fillmore pedal has ended my search....and only one knob.....How the hell?
I play mostly, Funk, Blues and Classic Rock, and your Fillmore pedal allows me to set my guitars volume about halfway. Set the pedal so that it's just on the verge of break up with the volume at halfway, then the rest of the night, I can go from Sly & the Family Stone to Janis Joplin to Beck, by just rolling the guitars volume up and down.
The other thing that I love is that the Fillmore pedal works with all my other pedals. I don't have to turn it off, when I kick in the Eternity, or BB or Timmy, it just enhances all of them.
Well, I'll stop gushing, but I thought the least I could do was tell you great job on your Fillmore pedal. My search is over!!"

"[The Fillmore] makes me forget I'm using a pedal" ... "I couldn't believe how many tones I could coax out of my guitar without touching my amp or the pedal." ... " It's like the tone knob on your guitar suddenly has more steroids than A-Rod. "

"Marshall tones abound, but the key word is "tones". Not just one tone, but a variety of tones from just a touch of hair to heavily overdriven tones. I can see using this pedal for more than one genre of music. ... The pedal does more than just create a distortion tone within in the box itself. It boosts the signal slamming the front end of your amp with more dbs.. Thus, giving you whatever OD/distortion voice your amp itself is capable of producing and blending that with the pedal's unique voice. It cleans up well with your guitar knob, too. I know a lot of pedals make these claims, and I was skeptical, but this one works surprisingly well. "

I Love it, with my Rory Gallagher tribute Strat it's good and with my Les Paul too !

I think The Fillmore is good for gain booster. It is great vintage tone.
And Buffer is a really natural Buffer. Just gives me natural treble !

CASES AND FINISHES
We offer our pedals in either a modern, translucent polycarbonate case or a more traditional aluminum case. Polycarbonate is an engineering material that is used to make bulletproof glass. It is very durable and impact resistant. It weighs less than half as much as aluminum but is very strong: We can stand on one with our full 220 pound (100 kilogram) weight and the case does not crack or break. The light weight makes them easy to carry in a gig bag and they are cool looking too. We currently offer red or blue polycarbonate: the blue is more translucent as you can see above. The red is darker.
We also offer the traditional aluminum case in a variety of finishes including custom finishes.
A NOTE ABOUT LED's
Our pedals are available with- or without LED's. Some guitarists always use pedals in a pedal board and want a visual indicator to see that the pedal is on or off. We respect that. Some guitarists like to carry a pedal in a gig bag and use battery power, and prefer not having and LED because and LED can use up 1/3 or more of the current. We respect that too. Our pedals are very energy efficient and with a fresh battery and no LED you could expect 100 hours or more.
The choice is yours: we offer our pedals with or without LED indicators.
All our pedals are True Bypass operation and when the footswitch is "off" no signal goes through The Fillmore circuit.
